An accessible wet room in Nottingham
A standard bathroom in Nottingham turned into a level access wet room, with grab rails and a fitted seat built in from the start rather than added on afterwards.
The room was a conventional bathroom before. Converting it to a wet room meant tanking the floor and walls properly and setting the drainage in, which is the part that decides whether a wet room works in ten years or leaks in two.
Grab rails and a seat were planned into the layout rather than screwed on at the end. Done that way they sit where someone actually reaches for them, and the room does not read as a hospital bathroom.
It is finished in grey tile with a black radiator. An accessible bathroom does not have to look like one, and this one does not.

How it was built
The part that gets covered up. Tanking, drainage and pipework decide whether a bathroom is still sound in ten years, so we photograph it before the tiles go on.
